Finally!
Something shiny and new!
I've recently become enthralled (er, obsessed rather) with the wonderful Swedish actor Alexander Skarsgard and (to be more precise) his wonderfully fiendishly charming turn as former Viking-cum-Vampire, Eric Northman on the HBO show "True Blood".
So, I decided to take a stab at doing a sketch of his character in his Viking days and here are the results!
I stupidly was sketching in a sketchbook that had paper too big to properly fit in my cheap-a** scanner, so it got cut off a bit on the left hand side and bottom, but other than that I think the scan turned out somewhat satisfactory.
The sketch itself I had to compose using various screen captures/publicity stills of Alex as Eric, I stumbled upon at a lovely website devoted to the character called ericnorthman.net (shout out to DeeDee - thanks for the wonderful screencaptures and picture references, without them I would have had to make up his costume/warrior garb which would have undoubtably turned out with hilariously disastorous results. Thanks again Dee!).
Anyhoo, I think the torso is a bit out of proportion, but it might just be the embellished fur cape with the huge shoulder pads (a bit of a mistake...now that's an understatement for sure) at least that's what it looks like.
Anyhoo, nitpicking aside, I'm very pleased with how the face turned out (which is the most important part, IMHO).
